Great Local Camping

Baja, and the region around La Paz and south to Cabo in particular offer some of the best camping to be found anywhere on the planet. Seriously. From free beach camping, to secluded mountain oasis, to luxurious campgrounds with hot showers and pools, theres a little something for everybody. While the list below is in no way exhaustive, we can recommend these spots and campgrounds based on years of running a van rental service and camping ourselves. Pick a handful and make your own itinerary. A lot of folks will choose to camp either before dropping off with us, or after picking it up.

Recommended Camping around LiveTheVanLife Restorations
  • Playa Tecolote:  A 30 minute drive or so from our shop, completely free beach with tons of parking, little restaurants.
  • Comitan: Very close to our shop, maybe 10 minutes or so, another beach that offers free parking. No amenities, but safe and pretty.
  • Sol RV Park: Right on the Malecon in La Paz. Amazing location. Paid. https://www.instagram.com/solrvpark/?hl=en
  • Peace Center: Small campground in La Paz, van friendly. https://www.instagram.com/peacecenterlpz/?hl=en
  • Libra Way Campground: In Playa Cerritos about and hour from La Paz. Close to great surfing, Todos Santos. Wonderful hosts. https://www.instagram.com/the.libra.way.baja/?hl=en
  • Rancho San Dionisio: Perhaps our favorite campground.  A roughly 3 hour drive from La Paz up in the mountains between La Paz and Cabo. A magical oasis, with a stream, green grass, starlink internet, a full community kitchen, and more. Amazing place, a must see. https://www.instagram.com/ranchosandionisio/?hl=en
  • The Last Place: Another beautiful campground, right on the edge of a cliff overlooking the sea of cortez. New facilities, hot showers, clean bathrooms, access to a pool, your own private Palapa for your van with hook ups. Also about 3 hours from our shop, and a tad expensive, but very nice. Worth the splurge. https://www.instagram.com/thelastplace_cabopulmobcs/?hl=en
