Mechanical Services

Did you know we offer a range of Mechanical Services?

Our mechanical work is the backbone of what we do. A Vanagon can look beautiful on the outside, but without solid mechanicals it’s just a shell. We handle everything in-house, from stock engine replacements and full drivetrain work to transmissions, brakes, suspension, cooling systems, and electrical diagnostics. Whether the goal is a reliable daily driver, a long-distance traveler, or a fully restored classic, we approach every mechanical job with the same mindset: it has to work correctly, consistently, and for the long haul.
We’ve spent years inside these vehicles, learning their quirks, weak points, and the details that separate a temporary fix from a proper solution. Vanagons reward experience and punish shortcuts, and we don’t take shortcuts. Components are inspected, not assumed. Systems are tested as a whole, not just repaired in isolation. We pay attention to routing, clearances, fasteners, torque values, and serviceability—because we know these vans will be driven hard, far from home, and expected to perform.
That attention to detail is what makes the difference. A quiet suspension, brakes that inspire confidence, a drivetrain that feels tight and predictable—these things don’t happen by accident. They come from methodical work, patience, and respect for the platform. Our goal is simple: when you turn the key and head down the road, the van feels sorted, trustworthy, and ready for whatever miles you put in front of it.

We currently only swap stock Vanagon engines and source them from either GoWesty or Mansispeed. We are happy to educate you on the pros and cons of all the available options. We are sorry we do not offer any engine conversion services at this time.
