A Doka camping on a Baja beach. Does it get much better? Close your eyes, feel the warm sand between your toes, the ice cold Tecate in your hand. A gull caws in the distance, a sweet balmy breeze kisses your face. This is the most relaxed you’ve been since… You can’t actually remember feeling this at peace. You gaze over your shoulder at your Volkswagen Doka perched just past the high tide mark on the beach. It’s been freshly restored by LiveTheVanlife Restorations in La Paz. It looks incredible. You feel proud. You will be the envy of the town when you return home. But not yet. The open road beckons. As a complex jumble of intensely happy emotions washes over you, you climb the ladder to the rooftop tent and fall into the plush and insanely cozy bed inside. You doze off. Upon waking a new day begins and you start your morning routine. Hand grind the coffee beans, boil the water, mix it all together in the French press. You gaze out across the Sea of Cortez glistening in the early morning sun. A whale breaches. You realize it’s only been one day since driving out of La Paz with a huge grin on your face. A whole week of this awaits you.
