Vanagon Engines

Option 1: Rebuild your stock engine $3000 Plus Parts

Your stock engine has gotten you this far, why not keep it original and rebuild it? We will take in your van, remove the engine, tear it down, and go from there. It's impossible to know exactly what needs to be replaced inside (and what can be reused) until we open it up. Once we do we can assist you with acquiring all of the parts necessary for a rebuild such as new pistons, cylinders, rods, bearings, seals and gaskets. Our listed price covers our labor. I love the stock 2.1 engine and think its perhaps the best option on an otherwise well sorted Vanagon.

Option 2: Rebuild your stock engine to a 2.2l WBX $3200 Plus Parts

The next option is to take your stock 2.1 and rebuild it with slightly bigger pistons supplied by GoWesty.  There is some extra labor involved in checking the clearances on the engine case, but otherwise its a similar amount of work to rebuilding your stock 2.1. This will give you a small bump in power while still maintaining the reliability of the stock engine.

Timeframe:

8 weeks is typical, but can be longer if parts need to be imported for your van, or if we run into atypical problems with your particular Van. No two vans are exactly alike after 30+ years and so we cannot account for every possibility in advance.

    Lets talk about your Conversion...
